FKB’s Mike Furman Participates in a Panel Discussion on Cancer Survivorship at Columbia’s Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center (HICCC)


On July 16, 2025, October 6, 2024, Mike Furman of Furman Kornfeld & Brennan LLP participated in a panel discussion entitled “Living Beyond Cancer: Stories of Strength, Support, and Survival,” which is part of Columbia HICCC’s community outreach program “Yes in the Heights,” a summer internship for high school and undergraduate students that aims to increase the pool of youth entering STEM fields. This panel discussion took part during Scientific Enrichment Month (SEM), and was designed to allow the Columbia “Yes in the Heights” program participants explore what cancer survivorship means and how cancer affects not only the individual but also their families, communities, and support systems.

Mike Furman is a long-term cancer survivor and patient at Columbia’s Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center (HICCC).  Mike serves on the HICCC Patient and Family Advocacy Board, Columbia’s Cancer Advisory Council and is a fundraiser for cancer research through Velocity, Columbia’s Ride to End Cancer.
