FKB’s Stefanie Singer selected to represent the New York County Lawyers’ Association at the United Nations’ 61st Session of the Commission on the Status of Women.

Stefanie A. Singer will represent the New York County Lawyers’ Association (“NYCLA”) at the 61st Session of the Commission on the Status of Women, held at the United Nations Headquarters in Manhattan from March 13, 2017 through March 24, 2017.

The Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), a functional commission of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), is a global policy-making body dedicated exclusively to promoting gender equality and the empowerment of women. The Commission was established by ECOSOC resolution 11(II) of June 21, 1946 to promote women’s rights in political, economic, civil, social and educational fields. The Commission also implements various programs in an effort to accelerate the realization of gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls across the globe. Every year, representatives of Member States, United Nations entities and non-governmental organizations – including NYCLA – gather at United Nations Headquarters in New York for the Commission’s annual session.

The theme of this year’s Session is “Women’s Economic Empowerment in the Changing World of Work.”  As a representative, Stefanie will assist NYCLA’s general counsel in preparing and submitting a quadrennial report to the UN concerning NYCLA’s promotion of the Commission’s agenda and programs in order for NYCLA to maintain its consultative status as an NGO.
