FURMAN KORNFELD & BRENNAN LLP IS PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE THAT JESSICA SERRANO, IRINA ZAMYATIN, SALVATORE LAPETINA AND JASON SEILER HAVE BEEN NAMED OF COUNSEL OF THE FIRM, EFFECTIVE AUGUST 1, 2023


Jessica Serrano Goddeyne, born in New York City, focuses on professional liability and legal malpractice defense, as well as insurance coverage and litigation. Ms. Goddeyne has practiced in the insurance defense field since 2014. She handles complex litigation matters and has extensive experience representing and advising professionals, business entities, property owners and individuals throughout all phases of litigation. Her accomplishments include successfully obtaining a verdict on behalf of a law firm client following a four-week jury trial.

Ms. Goddeyne earned her J.D. from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law where she was a Notes Editor and Staff Member on the Cardozo Journal of Conflict Resolution. She received her B.A. in Political Science and International Studies from the University of Miami. Ms. Goddeyne is admitted to practice law in New York, Florida, the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, and the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida.

Irina Zamyatin, based in the Firm’s New York City office, is a member of FKB’s medical malpractice defense practice.

Ms. Zamyatin graduated from the University of Maryland with a B.A. in Government and Politics in 2010. In 2013, she earned her J.D. from the University of California, Davis School of Law. In January 2014, she began practicing in New York at a plaintiff’s personal injury firm. From there she transitioned to insurance defense as in-house counsel for Liberty Mutual where she defended personal injury cases from inception to trial.

Salvatore Lapetina, based in the Firm’s New York City office, is a member of FKB’s General Liability ,Construction Accident Liability Litigation and Professional Liability practices.

Mr. Lapetina is a 2015 graduate of St. John’s University School of Law, where he was a Pro Bono Scholar and completed over 1000 hours of pro bono legal services in the areas of securities arbitration and bankruptcy. In addition, he co-founded and was the managing editor of the St. John’s Commercial Division Online Law Report. Mr. Lapetina is admitted to practice in the states of New York and New Jersey, and the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey.

Jason H. Seiler, based in the Firm’s New York City office, is a member of FKB’s legal and processional malpractice and general liability and insurance coverage practices.

Mr. Seiler has a keen understanding of all facets of litigation from case inception through trial, including, but not limited to drafting pleadings and discovery demands, meeting with clients and witnesses, case planning and strategy, legal research, drafting of discovery and dispositive motions, and trial preparation and organization.  Mr. Seiler also has extensive experience in negotiating settlements both privately and with a third-party neutral.
