Tracy S. Katz

Tracy S. Katz is a partner focusing primarily defending medical malpractice actions.  She has over twenty years of experience defending hospitals, physicians and other healthcare professionals in all aspects of medical malpractice, professional liability and general liability cases. Ms. Katz also defends clients in cases involving discrimination, sexual assault/battery, negligent hiring, violation of the American Disabilities Act, insurance fraud, sepulcher and defamation.

Ms. Katz has been annually designated since 2023 as a Metro New York “Super Lawyer” in medical malpractice liability defense.

Ms. Katz has a sustained and exceptional record of high-stakes defense victories across medical malpractice, personal injury, employment, and institutional liability litigation in New York trial and appellate courts. Tracy S. Katz has repeatedly secured dismissals, summary judgment, appellate affirmances, venue transfers, defense verdicts, and pre-discovery discontinuances on behalf of physicians, hospitals, surgical centers, radiology practices, nurses, podiatrists, chiropractors, security companies, and other institutional defendants, often in cases involving catastrophic injuries, wrongful death, amputations, complex diagnostic allegations, and multimillion-dollar exposure. These outcomes were achieved through aggressive early motion practice, meticulous expert development and successful challenges to proximate cause, jurisdiction, credibility, and speculative expert opinions. Notably, many victories were obtained despite multiple opposing experts, adverse venues, or appellate scrutiny, including unanimous affirmances in the First and Second Departments and dismissals in novel and evolving areas of law.

Ms. Katz graduated cum laude from Colgate University with a Bachelors of Arts in Political Science in 1999. Ms. Katz received her J.D. from Fordham University in 2002 where she was an Associate Editor of the Fordham Urban Law Journal. She also completed a semester with a concentration in International Law at L’Universite de Nice, Faculte de Droit in Nice, France in 2000.
